Prof. Marin Atanassov

Prof. Atanassov graduated the English Language School in Plovdiv in 1987 and the Medical University – Plovdiv in 1995.

In 1999 he defended a Ph.D. thesis on "Modern methods in the diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma". In 2000 he was Board certified in Ophthalmology. Since 1999 Prof. Atanassov has been assistant professor at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University - Plovdiv and a senior ophthalmologist at the Eye Clinic of the University Hospital "St. George ".

In 2010 he was elected as an associate professor at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University - Plovdiv. Since 2010 he has been an attending surgeon at Central Onco Hospital - Plovdiv. In 2000 he opened an individual clinic for private practice.

Prof. Atanasov specialized in Western Eye Hospital - London and Mahatme Eye Hospital - Nagpur, India.

International Certificates

  • 1996 and 2000 - Certification by the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) for covered specialist level.

  • 2009 - a graduate of the leadership development program of the European Society in ophthalmology (SOE).
